I’m Sarah—a calligrapher and watercolor artist, originally from Texas and now based in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Art has always been part of my life. I took summer classes starting at age four, entered every coloring contest I could find, and signed up for every art class in school. I kept drawing while earning a BA in sociology from McNeese State, then studied graphic design at the Art Institute of Houston.

In 2017, I took my first calligraphy class at a small shop in Athens, GA. In early 2020, just before everything shut down, I picked up watercolor. (Pretty sure I borrowed every watercolor book the library had when my in-person classes were canceled.)

I’m a member of the Florida Watercolor Society and IAMPETH, and my work has been shown in Florida, Georgia, and online through FWS exhibitions. In 2020, I received the People’s Choice award at the OCAF Members’ Exhibition in Watkinsville, GA.

Today, I focus on combining calligraphy, watercolor, and design for weddings and events, custom gifts, and branding projects.

Who I Am

Hi, I’m Sarah.

I’m a calligrapher and watercolor artist, originally from Texas and now based in West Palm Beach, Florida.

I focus on clarity, accessibility, and all of the tiny details. I want to make sure people don’t feel like they have to read between the lines just to understand what’s going on.

I often want and need more details, more context—just more clarity in general. Lack of clarity and miscommunication creates anxiety for a lot of people.

And since vague instructions or missing information can quickly derail a project, I try to address that by providing the things I usually want: all the information up front, clearly stated, and easy to access.

There are so many different ways of thinking, learning, processing. And whether I’m teaching, working on a commission, or designing event signage, I want the experience to feel clear and doable—not overwhelming or confusing.

This shouldn’t be the part that’s hard or stressful.

So if there’s ever a problem with accessibility, please let me know directly using the chat bubble or by emailing me. And if something needs to be explained further—or if you just have questions—please reach out.

What matters to me

I love projects that tell a story through small details or that find the beauty in everyday objects and moments.

What I do

I offer event calligraphy, watercolor and calligraphy commissions, original watercolor art, and on-site calligraphy for events of all kinds.

I like to focus on the small details that make each project and story feel unique, and I love projects that tell a story through those details or that finds the beauty in everyday objects and moments.

Calligraphy, watercolor, and digital design each play a different role in that:

  • Calligraphy provides structure, tradition, and personality.

  • Watercolor adds movement and texture.

  • Graphic design keeps it modern and helps tie everything together.

How I work: my process

There’s a lot that has to happen before I can start the final version you’ll receive.

I spend time testing ink and paper, sketching layouts, and troubleshooting when something just isn’t working the way I want.

I’ve tested every blue I own to match a school color. Painted koi and their shadows separately to preserve the delicacy in a digital layout. Painted a house portrait based on someone’s memory of how it looked nearly 60 years ago, not just the photos. Spent whole afternoons making color charts to find the best mixes.

This is the part I love: the research, the planning, the satisfaction of solving a problem, and finally, seeing it all come together.
