General Calligraphy Questions

Do you offer different styles of calligraphy?

Yes! My standard style is based on classic copperplate, and from there I can adjust it to feel more modern and relaxed or more flourished and formal — depending on the mood you want.

What’s the difference between calligraphy and hand-lettering, and what do you offer?

Calligraphy is the art of writing letters, while hand lettering is the art of drawing or illustrating them.

One traditional form of calligraphy uses a flexible pointed nib, but other tools—like brush pens, paintbrushes, or even soft lead pencils—can also be used.

Hand lettering involves drawing each letter by hand and includes styles like faux calligraphy and other illustrated forms.

I specialize in pointed pen and brush calligraphy but also work in a variety of hand-lettered styles. I’m happy to help you choose the right style for your project.

Do you offer large signage, chalkboard art, murals, or window painting?

Yes! For large-scale pieces like custom seating charts, welcome signs, chalkboard murals, or window painting, I collaborate with another local vendor to offer these extended services.

Together, we create pieces that are both eye-catching and cohesive, blending calligraphy, layout, and illustration to suit your space or event.

If you're interested in including one of these in your project, just let me know in your inquiry — I’ll guide you through the next steps.

Materials & Customization

Who provides the paper or materials??

I ask that clients provide the paper or materials for calligraphy, plus an additional 15–20% to account for human error, ink variations, or unforeseen issues.

Does it matter what kind of paper or envelopes I choose?

Yes, the type of paper or envelopes matters! Dark, lined, handmade, metallic, or textured paper can require specialty inks, nibs, or techniques — sometimes affecting pricing and timeline. Please let me know as early as possible so I can advise and test as needed.

What color inks do you offer?

Standard options include (but are not limited to) black, gold, and white. For a one-time fee of $25, I can custom color-match the ink to perfectly coordinate with your wedding or event colors.

Process & Booking

I've never hired a calligrapher before — what's the process?

You’re in the right place! For a step-by-step breakdown of my process, payment schedule, and timeline, click here.

How far in advance should I book?

The sooner, the better! Ideally, reach out at least 4–6 weeks before you need your project completed, especially for weddings or large events. For on-site events, I recommend booking as early as possible to reserve your date.

What's your payment process?

For most projects, a 50% deposit is required to secure your booking, with the balance due upon completion. For larger or custom projects, I’ll outline the schedule in your proposal.

On-Site Calligraphy

What’s included in your on-site calligraphy or brand activation services?

For live events or brand activations, I bring all the necessary tools and materials and provide real-time personalization or engraving on-site. This creates a memorable experience for your guests and unique keepsakes tied to your brand or event. Contact me for details and custom quotes!

Can you travel for events?

Yes! I’m happy to travel for events, and travel costs will be included in your quote depending on the location.

Engraving Services

Can you engrave champagne bottles?

Champagne bottles and other pressurized containers can’t be safely engraved, as the pressure inside makes them too delicate for the engraving process.

For these, I use permanent paint pens to create a similar personalized look without compromising the bottle.

What types of surfaces can you engrave?

I can engrave on a variety of hard surfaces, including glass, metal, and acrylic.

If you’re unsure whether your item can be engraved, just reach out — I’m happy to check!

What are some popular engraved gifts?

Engraved gifts are a beautiful way to add a personal, lasting touch. Popular options include:

  • Perfume bottles

  • Wine or spirits bottles (non-pressurized)

  • Glassware (like champagne flutes, tumblers, or barware)

  • Acrylic accessories

  • Lipstick tubes

  • Compact mirrors or ornaments

Shipping & Location

Do you ship orders, or is everything local?

I’m based in West Palm Beach, Florida but work with clients across the country. I’m happy to ship completed projects; shipping fees and timelines will be included in your quote.

Are you available to travel for events?

Yes! I’m happy to travel for events, and I’ll include travel costs in your custom quote.
